Richard Smith
is the creator of the Gateway Guides series. His life long love for Cape history has been a strong driving force behind the project. Besides the guides which he has created, over the last few years he has redesigned all the South African Air Force Museums and has been involved in numerous other museums in the Western Cape. He has also developed comprehensive timelines detailing the history of regions and towns in the Western Cape. He is on the committee of the Cape Town Historical Society and is actively involved in SANParks Honorary Rangers.
Clifford Smith
is a keen amateur historian & raconteur of Cape history, politics and current affairs. He has a long career in the advertising industry and tourism from a time when he co-owned an aviation tourism business specialising in historical and unusual aircraft, a venture that enabled him to experience Zero Gravity flight in a Ukrainian IL76 and even got to fly under a certain bridge on the Garden Route in a vintage biplane piloted by an international aerobatics champion. Clifford’s role at Gateway Guides is to hold the centre and ensure that every client is always satisfied with our service.
